Panguni Uthiram is a festival celebrated by the devotees of Lord Murugan throughout the world, especially in Tamil Nadu. Panguni Uthiram is celebrated in the Tamil month of Panguni, on a full moon day with a Uttara Phalguni nakshatra.
What has to be done on Panguni Uthiram day:
All auspicious events like pooja, homamas, weddings, ceremonies, and others are held on the day of panguni Uthiram. The devotees take a holy dip in the river, temple pond, or at home to purify themselves and visit the nearest Murugan temple to seek the blessing of the lord and to view the divine marriage of Lord Murugan.
In the temples, the sacred celestial weddings of Lord Murugan with Valli Deivayanai, Lord Shiva with Parvathi, and lord Rama with Sita happen. The devotees chant the names of the deities and seek the blessings of the almighty.
The house has to be cleaned on the previous day, idols or photos of lord Murugan along with Valli and Deivayanai, Shiva and Parvathi, and Rama and Sita are decorated with flowers. The incense sticks are burned, and the lamps are lit. Nevaidyam is offered to the deities and the members of the family consume it after worshipping the lord. The holy names of the lord is chanted and songs of lord Murugan are sung.

As per the ancient tamil literature, it is said that this day is the day on which lord shiva got married to goddess Parvathi. The marriage of lord Murugan, lord Rama is also believed to have occurred on the day of Panguni Uthiram.
It is believed that the full moon is considered a very auspicious time for performing auspicious events and spiritual things and the star Uttara Phalguni is said to enhance the process, and this is why it is a very auspicious time for marriage.
